MasterGuild announces its 2010 – 2011 season of five concerts.
The first concert on December 12th presents the Cypress Quartet in a program of string quartets, including the Debussy quartet and the Brahms Piano Quintet, with music director Roy Bogas as the pianist. The Cypress Quartet is an established group, originating in the Bay Area, with 13 years of experience and a national reputation for musicality and fine ensemble.
Roy Bogas will give a piano recital on February 13th to include the Schumann Phantasie, Op.17 and the Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux, Op.16. These are virtuoso works dear to his heart and not heard very often.
March 13th will feature the up and coming violinist David McCarroll, whose unerring musical instinct places him among the elite and whose career lies before him. Your music director believes that he will become one of the great violinists of his generation. The program includes Brahms’ first and Bartok’s second sonatas.
Axel Strauss, Amy Hiraga, Nancy Ellis and Peter Wyrick return on May 1st for a program of larger ensembles still to be determined. This is the group that forms the core of MasterGuild programs and sets the bar for the highest standards in chamber music playing.
A bonus concert will take place on June 12th to showcase the entire Wyrick family: Amy, Peter and their two daughters cellist Mariko, who substituted last year for her father, and violinist Mayumi. You will enjoy their fine talents and accomplishments.
Ticket prices remain the same as last year and the generosity of your donations help to sustain this policy.
